I wish you had the old ones for Alaska

Hi,
I have found the older model of Cabbage collars, mentioned by Denise Thanepohn to be fabulous in Alaska. I ordered many boxes of them and found that they stopped root maggots to 95% and the plants were free to grow up to 3.5 feet tall and covered in food for my family.. They had copper in them so each winter, I collected ones that were not destroyed by various reasons and soaked them for a month in a bucket of water with all the copper pipe, or odd chunks of copper metal that I could find to reinfuse them. I decided this year I would reorder 6 or 7 boxes of the copper infused ones to replace ones I have ruined. With all the rain we get on the coast, the new ones with felt would hold too much water. I wish you had the best quality ones that you used to carry. I guess I will look else where for cabbage collars that work best in my wet, cold climate.

Not bad....

In 2018 I used the agralan Cabbage Collars that were more paper-like. Many folks said they tended to blow around in the wind which I also found to be true, but I had a higher yield, and the transplants ended up producing 2 week ahead of the transplants without anything. That's a huge win here in Alaska . Definitely less bugs and slugs.
In 2019, Territorial didn't carry them and instead had these felt ones from the same company. They didn't blow away which was a plus, but they were harder to put around the plant stem, they stayed damp which wasn't great, and they didn't warm the soil as much as the black paper ones did. I ended up ordering some of the original kind on Ebay.
Side by side, I'd say the paper did better in my climate. The felt wasn't far behind, and I plan to get some more and try it again,
