Fast Growing, Good Flavor

Western Washington, Zone 8b. Very fast-growing, forming dense heads with mild flavor. Great for fall planting and overwintering in the garden.

growing well and delicious

I am in zone 8b Texas. I planted Wa wa Tsai indoor, I transplanted on the ground with just soil and rabbit manure from our property (no store bought soil). It grew well, it has beautiful big green leaves and I harvested last week for our stir fry. It was delicious. Today, we harvest again this Wa wa Tsai. I am pleased with the seed from Territorial seed. Thank you Territorial seed.

Great, Mild Flavor and Pleasing Texture

I placed my first order with this company because I wanted to try Napa Cabbage. I wasn't sure what to expect with this vegetable. The plant is quite attractive and makes quite a pleasant ornamental. I finally decided to harvest today and wasn't even sure what I was going to do with it. Unfortunately, the slugs really loved these and did quite a bit of damage but not enough to cause me to lose my produce. I stripped the damaged outer leaves off and fed it to my chickens. I am thrilled with the look of the finished product and decided to give it a try raw and by itself. It was very mild in flavor and the texture was very soft and slightly crunchy. It made an excellent sandwich; I am very excited and intend to start more for my fall garden. I highly recommend trying this product. We are in zone 4 UP Michigan and will hopefully get 2 crops of this variety. This definitely won me over, and I am not one to eat random produce. I am trying to get there and believe that even if you are a picky eater like me you will enjoy this vegetable. I intend to try this in a salad, as a wrap, and hopefully ferment some as well. The ribs are somewhat similar to celery with a different flavor and a bit softer. Give this a try; I don't think you will regret it.

Culture
• Chinese cabbage is a cool season crop that performs best in spring and fall in a wide range of soil types

Direct Sowing
• For a spring crop, sow after the danger of frost
• Fall crops can be sown July—mid-August

Transplanting
• For a spring crop, start 4-5 weeks before anticipated transplant date
• Fall crops can be started from June to mid-July and set out when there are 4-5 true leaves

Insects & Diseases
• Common insects: Flea and cucumber beetles, slugs, earwigs
• Insect control: Pyrethrin or row covers at planting, Cabbage Collars for slugs
• Disease prevention: 5-7 year crop rotation
