Plant-Diamonds Blue Delphinium

Plant-Diamonds Blue Delphinium

Delphinium elatum True blue is a very hard to come by color in the garden, but Diamonds Blue sparkles with an exceptionally radiant cobalt touched with a violet highlight. Loose spikes of wide open, 5-petaled blooms are absolutely spellbinding in the landscape and fresh cut bouquets. Reliably blooming the first year from seed, the compact, durable plants reach 16-24 inches tall with a 10-12 inch spread. The feathery foliage adds a delicate, gossamer texture on the bushy, multi-stemmed plants. Hardy in USDA zones 4a-8b.
Available only as a plant.

Ordered two live plants of the Diamonds Blue Delphinium. Shipped late May. Plants were to ship in a 3" pot. For $9.95 each, I fully expected plants that would be 5 -8" tall and ready to be planted. What I received were plants less than 2" tall (one was so small I wasn't even sure something was actually growing). I babied them for about a week and one finally grew enough that I could plant it with considerable attention to protection. The other one died before I could even plant it. Both were obviously late grown plants and not the quality I have come to appreciated from Territorial. Finally went to a local greenhouse and found a couple of 16" tall plants that were sourced (by the greenhouse) from Territorial. They are lovely plants and are doing well. Since I have had great luck with Territorial in the past I will write this off as an anomaly. Thus the rating below is based on the one sourced from Territorial but purchased from a local greenhouse.
