Tomato Rings

ZSU899

Combining the best qualities of a stake and a standard tomato cage, these handy tomato rings grow with your plants. Attach 3 rings to any shape post (up to 1 3/4 inches in diameter), and guide the plants through the rings. Adjust the height of the rings as your plants grow. No more unwieldy plant cages, and no more tying up plants! These ingenious, galvanized steel rings are reusable season after season and require minimal space for storage. Measure 10 1/2 x 5 inches each.

Works well for small spaces

I used these last year for tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and eggplant. For the tomatoes, which were indeterminate, I used about 6 rings on a 7 foot, round green garden stake from Lowes. The tomatoes were planted in Earthboxes and the stakes were zip-tied to our deck rails. I probably could have gotten by with fewer rings per stake, but didn't want to take any chances. I pruned the tomatoes to keep them to 1-2 main stems. Despite the pruning, we had loads of tomatoes. The rings showed no wear at the end of the summer, so I will reuse them this year. They worked well for the other crops I used them for (all in containers). Great space saver and very sturdy. I posted pics to a Tomato Ring thread on the Tomato forum on Gardenweb.
