67 days. This magnificent 6 foot tall Romano pole bean produces a massive crop of huge, tender beans over a long season. The bright green pods are flat and about 7-8 inches long. It continues to be the finest Romano we've ever trialed. Musica remains very tender and delicious even when it reaches its largest size. White seeds.

Phaseolus vulgaris Rich and flavorful beans are fiber-packed veggies that promote digestive health and are excellent sources of antioxidants that scavenge free radicals in the body. They are also nitrogen-fixing legumes; beans gather nitrogen from the air and load it into the soil to feed future crops.

Days to maturity are calculated from date of direct seeding.

• Beans are shallow rooted and can require up to 1/4 inch of water a day during hot weather
• Optimum soil pH is 5.5-6.5, mildly acidic
• Apply 1 cup of TSC's Complete fertilizer per 10 row feet, and 1 inch of compost
• Coat seed with inoculant to increase yields

Direct Sowing
• One ounce of seed plants 12-15 row feet, 1/2 pound for 100 row feet
• Grow Pole, Runner, and Yard Long beans on trellises

Harvest & Storage
• Ready for harvest about 2 weeks after bloom
• Pick when pods are nearly full size and seeds are still small
• Harvest every 3-5 days to increase yields
• Store at 40-45°F and 95% relative humidity

Romanos are the best green beans, and Musica are the best Romanos! As others have said, these beans are delicious and tender even when quite large. They are also very productive. At the peak of the season, the short row I planted and trellised, maybe 4 feet across, produced much more than my husband and I could eat. By October, the vines were still producing, though not as heavily, even though I missed a few pods which matured to the dry-bean stage. The pods do get less succulent when the beans inside start to swell, so I try to pick them before that stage and, since we're not lacking for green beans, leave the over-developed pods on the vine to go to seed and plant next year, since Musica is an open-pollinated variety.

This past year was the first time I have grown pole beans. WOW what a success, loved the meatiness of the musica. Will add more plants this next year. Kept producing all summer.

Can't say enough good things about this bean. Planted end of April, vines took off and produced like crazy for six months. Delicious Romano flavor, huge pods, still tender even when starting to bulge, and those I missed and left hanging made nice shelling beans. Earned a permanent place in my garden.

End of June and already producing great quantity of the best bean I've ever had!
