Mt. Hood Hops
Humulus lupulus Valued for their ornamental place in the landscape, and as a key ingredient in beer making, hops find themselves at home in nearly any yard or garden. These agile vines cling to arbors, fences, walls, and trellises, rapidly covering their support structures with emerald foliage showered in clusters of pale green flowers. Beer brewers use Mt. Hood to impart distinctive, fragrant flavors in their home brews. Used in the landscape, the fast growing vines can create a dense, exotic privacy screen or shady spot under a pergola or arbor. The unusual blooms add a unique texture to fresh and dried flower arrangements, and the vines twist naturally into beautiful wreaths for fall decor. Hop plants will die back in winter only to return with heightened vigor the following spring, reaching up to 20-25 feet in height. Mt. Hood is an especially disease resistant variety, and is cold hardy to zone 4.
Vining plants are shipped at the end of April/beginning of May in 3 1/2 inch pots. Order early for best availability. Complete growing instructions are included.
