Kaffir Lime

Kaffir Lime

XF153

Citrus hystrix The leaves, zest and juice of this variety give Thai, Cambodian and Indonesian cuisine their distinctive, unique, and citrusy bouquet. Kaffir limes are very dark green with unusual, lumpy skin, and foliage that is glossy and equally deep colored. The flowers are strongly perfumed, but even when not in bloom, the plant's leaves are fragrant when bruised, imparting a clean, exhilarating scent. Recipes frequently call for the zest of the fruit, which has high concentrations of aromatic oils. The fresh leaves are used whole (similar to bay leaves in cooking), or sliced into fine slivers for added texture and flavor.

Citrus plants are shipped from early April through June. Since they arrive bare root, please be prepared with potting soil and a 3-5 gallon container. Complete instructions are included with each order.

"Our citrus trees are 2-3 years old, well developed and branched with large, healthy root systems. Their trunk diameter ranges 1/2-3/4 inches, above-ground height is over 2 feet, and foliage canopy more than 1 foot in diameter. At this stage of development, they are mature enough to produce fruit. We have selected these special varieties for their vigor, beauty, productivity, and practical utility. Grow in full sun outdoors during warm months. In areas with cold winters, bring indoors and locate in a south facing, sunny window during frosty months. All of our citrus are well suited for cultivation indoors as houseplants. They arrive with their roots packed in a damp sawdust mixture, ready to plant into a 3-5 gallon container. Complete growing instructions are included with each order. Citrus plants are shipped from early April through June. Not available to AK, AZ, HI, FL, TX, US Territories, or Canada. "

So I have been growing my tree since spring and it has grown like 5 inches! The leaves are awesome for cooking! The only disappointment is the fruit. After doing some research the fruit is typically never used because it is so bitter, and this is sadly true. So if like me you bought it to use everything that isn't possible but other then that it is a great tree and grows well with some help
