Austrian Field Peas Cover Crop
(OP) Lathyrus hirsutus This cold-hardy overwintering pea is an excellent choice for cooler, poorly drained soils that may not be conducive to other legumes. Fixes 70–120 pounds per acre of nitrogen. Sow in the fall or as soon as possible in the spring. Can be worked in late April or early May. Recommended seeding rate: 2–4 pounds per 1000 square feet; 75 pounds per acre.
