Approximately 20 annual and perennial species native to or naturalized in our region. A profusion of color starts in spring and changes from week to week, lasting 'til mid-summer. Grows up to 3 feet high without irrigation in fertile soil. Mow in late summer to help distribute seeds throughout the patch. Initially broadcast seed when the soil is warm and seasonal rains encourage germination, usually October or April. Germination code: (4)
Planting rate: 5 ounces per 1000 square feet; 7-14 pounds per acre. Mix an ounce of seed with a gallon of sand or fine vermiculite for a more even sowing.
