Hardneck Garlic

Garlic growing has a long tradition throughout the country. All of our garlic, onion, and shallot varieties are untreated and ready to use in the kitchen or plant in the garden.

A vivid, royal purple tinged with shiny gold and/or silver hues makes this one of the most attractive garlics. As a sub-variety of Purple Stripe, a group known for being the "best baked garlic", Purple Glazer has a strong lasting flavor, but not hot and no aftertaste. Very easy to peel.

After eating half of a clove, this taste tester found the heat to build quickly to a volcanic state, made the eyes water, then disappeared just as fast with no aftertaste-almost like that flash you get when eating fresh horseradish. It was so delicious, I kept going back for more! The plants have tall foliage, and produce red-skinned cloves in a single layer around the stem. Develops a tremendous system of roots that gives it excellent stability in hard-winter regions. Stores 9 months to a year.
