Snake's Head Iris Bulb Growing Information:
Hermodactylus tuberosa. Plant tubers 3 inches deep and 6-8 inches apart in well-drained, fertile soil. Ideal spot would be a border or rock garden in full sun to partial shade where the tubers slowly form clumps 3 feet wide. Hardy in zones 6-9, but in areas with colder winters, they can be grown in containers. For container growing, plant 3-4 tubers in an 8 inch pot and leave in a cool spot over the winter, watering sparingly. Bring outdoors in early February or as soon as temperatures start to warm up.
